Crossroads is a platform for reading, writing, and illustrating interactive branching stories. Users can create stories with choices that lead readers down different narrative paths. All user-generated content is subject to our Terms of Service. Content that violates our guidelines is subject to removal.

AI Image Generation

Crossroads offers optional AI-generated illustrations powered by OpenAI (gpt-image-1). Every image request passes through OpenAI's built-in content safety system before an image is produced.

What OpenAI automatically blocks

✕Violence or gore

✕Sexual or nude content

✕Hate speech or discriminatory imagery

✕Depictions of real people in harmful contexts

✕Content that exploits or endangers minors

✕Promotion of dangerous or illegal activities

These restrictions are enforced by OpenAI and cannot be overridden by users or by Crossroads. Prompts that violate the policy are rejected before any image is generated. All prompts are also prefixed with an age-appropriate style directive (PG-13) to further guide outputs toward family-friendly results.
